Well spotted, leeand00. It's the other way around, though - Turrican was released 4 years after The Transformers movie. Often composers on the C64 were inspired (to put it mildly) by whatever music they were listening to at the time. Something that was very rarely mentioned on the credits screens for the various games.

I had the same thing happen to me when I listened to the soundtrack from that old David Bowie / Jennifer Connelly movie, "The Labyrinth". I just knew that I had heard the "Goblin Battle" track on the C64 back in the day. Took me forever to figure out that Ben Daglish covered it for The Vikings on the breadbox.

Jan,
I was watching the original Transformers movie yestererday, and amid all the other 80's music, I could have sworn I heard a SID chip playing. I looked at the movie box, and it read: Music Score By: Vince DiCola. After mucking about a bit in Google, I found the following bit of 8-bit trivia:

"Subsong 2" from the Commodore 64 game Turrican is actually the song "Escape" from The Transformers: The Movie soundtrack.

No wonder I was a Transformer fan; It's the same reason I'm a fan of The Takeaway.
