Episode 039: From deep within the Swedish woods

Time for another irregularly scheduled dose of the best remixes out there. This time the show is produced and assembled on my laptop, using different recording gear and software from the stuff I’m used to, so apologies in advance if it’s not up to standard, sound quality wise.

Also included is another track from the new Reyn Ouwehand album, a look back at both the Back In Time Live 2007 and SLAY Radio Gathering 2007 events, as well as recent news and listener feedback.

  1. Really cool to hear you back again – it’s always a treat!

It happen to happen one day i suppose but your catchphrase of ‘…as loud as we can’ must have invited trouble – it must have been about -20bd – lol

thanks anyway – glad your still around

  2. I did notice that the volume level was lower than usual when I finally got the track onto my iPod for a test spin, but at least the speech and the music volume didn’t seem to be too far apart to completely wreck the enjoyment of it.

Garageband ’06 might be very nice for assembling bits into a complete show, but if it has the ability to apply a compressor/normalizer post-recording I didn’t find it. (at least the newly released ’08 version is supposed to give you better control of the output)

It was a fun little experiment, but I think I’ll be back on my usual hardware/software setup next time. Good thing I at least apologised in advance when posting the show here. =)

  3. Hey, just popped in to say hi and how much flattered I am that you always include a remix of mine… Cheers, keep up the good work

  4. Jan Rocks. Just when I was thinking he wasn’t coming back again he pops in and drops another great show.

Jan – You’ve gotten so good at it now that we really do miss you when you’re gone. The guys you know an the tunes you select just work so well.

Keep it up – or at least have the decency to tell us when you quit.

  5. “Good news, everyone!”

I hadn’t gotten around to deleting the project file yet, so after a bit of moving sliders, pushing buttons, and uploading files there’s now a fixed version available And best of all: if you’re subscribed using a podcast-catching app it should automatically pull in the improved version next time you check for new episodes.

If you’re not the subscription-type there’s a download link for the fixed version in the post as well.

  6. @Nada:

You keep doing those remixes and I’ll keep playing them.

    @Wholly:

Thanks. Really appreciate comments like yours – heck, it’s part of what keeps me going. The other part of course being the excellent music that people continue to put out either on CDs or as free downloads. Also, I’m not the quit-without-announcing-it, so if it ever comes to that (touch wood that it doesn’t) you’ll know.

If doing the Take-away has taught me anything, it’s that I now have the utmost respect for people who can keep up a weekly podcast schedule.

  7. Jan…Nice to have you back. I’d love to see the BIT Live 2007 DVD. Could someone convert the BIT Live 2007 DVD to MPEG-4. It’s taking quite a while to download.

  8. always great show from you, really great tracks. you should do it more regularly, like every second friday or sumthin… thanks jan! best regards!
