Episode 053

First episode in what feels like forever (according to Wolfram|Alpha it’s been 4 years, 5 months and 3 days).  In return for your patience this episode clocks in at a little over an hour, so expect the usual C64-related music goodness, hand-picked for your listening pleasure. Apologies in advance for any mispronunciations I made on the show. And if I don’t sound as cheerful as usual, it’s because I was really focused on the recording process. 🙂

Thanks to everyone who kept the faith and stayed tuned over the years.

As mentioned on this episode, the podcast is back on iTunes after being removed for undisclosed reasons. So in order to help new people discover these great tunes, I’d really appreciate it if you rate and review the show on iTunes.

  1. Thanks for the new episode!

    Personally love the lean towards Hubbard. And know that you can wait months, years, decades between episodes, and it will only make me more excited when that little pling occurs with your ’cast popping up 🙂 You have given me so much over so many years!

    Love,
    Johan

    PS
    Your selection for this episode is crazily in sync with me. Every single track seems to be on my personal top 10. A good trick since there are more than 10.

  2. Great to have your podcast back, QED!

    Your voice sounds strange. Hopefully only a cold.

    Thank you and all the best, Adam Huemer

  3. @Adam: Curses! You have uncovered my secret identity. 🙂 Too bad I never got my CSDb application approved and update the bio on my ScenerID page.

    As for my voice, I was somewhat nervous during recording. Hopefully it didn’t spoil things too much for you.

    –Jan;

  4. @Johan: Always good to know that the podcast has such a faithful listener base. You guys are the best. (PS: Don’t forget to resubscribe to the new feed. :))

  5. It’s fantastic to have a new C64 Takeaway episode! I’ve listened to it at least 5 times already 😀

    Brilliant to have you back, Jan! Keep ’em coming 👍😎

  6. Jan! Welcome back! I’ve recently gotten a new computer job, and a new tablet to listen to your podcast on!! I was listening to the old ones again in order and was delighted to see a new one (this one) pop into the list!

    As for the concussion I’m sorry that you had to go through that, I’ve had health problems myself in the past and they really do put a damper on your plans for a while, especially while you try to figure out how to remmady them and get back to life as usual.

    Personally while I had them I used Tiddlywiki to research them and ungarble all of the doctors medical terminology so I could understand if the doctor understood my condition, and if not then I could find a better doctor who did.

    Glad to have you back!

  7. @Kroc : I was *this* close to using the “Surprise!” opening for this episode. But the feed-moving news wound up taking precedence. Plus, I didn’t want to jinx the chances of keeping up a regular schedule by calling the reboot semi-regular from the get-go.

    @Matt : Five listens? Whoa! Did you have it on repeat by mistake? 🙂

    @Andrew : Good to have a lot of the “old faithful” listeners back. Makes me even happier that I did a new show. You rock!

  8. Hi Jan. I discovered your podcast only this year.. But have been an irregular 🙂 listener to remix.kwed.org for a couple of years. Glad to see the c64takeaway is still going! Thanks for sharing the goodness. And glad you are doing well. Regards, Charl from South Africa.

  9. Thanks Charl,

    With summer baking down on Denmark it might be a while before I get episode 54 out, though. Bike pedals needs pedalling and forest trails needs to get run on.

    –Jan;

  10. For over 4 years I’ve been still occaisionally checking this site hoping for a new episode…and bugger me there’s a new one!

    Thanks. Lots going on still c64wise.

    Cheers,

    Andrew – UK

  11. Recently discovered this podcast. Where have I been??? Brilliant. Really enjoyed this. Hopefully not too long until the next one. Quite a few to catch-up on in the meantime 🙂 Cheers
