Episode 048: And then there was one

In return for your patience with my completely erratic publishing schedule here is a little something for your Christmas stocking. Sadly, the (huge) delay is partly caused by the podcast going back to its single-host roots, as Makke has had to cancel his co-host gig. That being said, here’s eight carefully selected tunes that should put a smile on your face – including one that’s become a regular fixture at this time of year. And a brief recap of what’s been happening in the world of C64-related music. Enjoy!

  1. WIN! Nice to see another take-away! You missed one year from last show by one day! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Let’s see what you’ve been up to now…

Keep up the good work, even if it’s quite unregular! =P

  2. It is a shame that Makke, has been caught up in real life (or a good thing depends how you look at it I guess). However the show was great before Makke, and will be/is great after Makke.

I missed the classic remix section in this show though.

Happy holidays, and keep up the good work.

  3. Cheers everyone! And yes, getting this one out a day short of the 1-year “anniversary” was completely intentional.

(Cue witty remarks about episode 49 probably coming out on December 13th 2011. :))

  4. Hey Jan, you really scared us this time! I was beginning to think I’d never listened to this podcast again, luckily I was wrong. By the way: the choice of songs this time is awesome!! There are remixes of some of my all time favourite, above all the piano rendition of Forbidden Forest is outstanding! I gives me shivers!! It seems to come straight from the romantic era, from a forest of the 19th century haunted by ghosts. As for the rest, give me an “Eliminator” remix anytime since I think the original by Jeroen Tel was one of the best SID song ever made. I also like very much the jazzy sound of “Moog – Rainbow Shuffle”. Well done!!!!!

  5. Jan, I concur you gave us a scare there; it was like waiting for one of your favorite games to load on a C64; a game that normally takes a long time to load like Invaders of the Lost Tomb) and and as the time passes almost losing hope that something was amiss with the disk, when hope is restored as the game actually loads!

Thanks for grinding the red light on your 1542, again and making us a podcast! ๐Ÿ™‚

Best wishes to Makke and his new Family, and may he make a comeback in another 18 years!

    (…wishful thinking on my part…)

(Also indecently, thanks for using my fan audio at the beginning of the show! What a thrill to have the take away open with it! ๐Ÿ˜€ )

  6. Sorry to hear about the untimely passing of D.J. Skitz. I was sadden by the news and will miss hearing him as well as his remixes on SlayRadio.

  7. Jan.. Any news about C64 Take Away…

Just like Retrobits… Two of my favourite podcasts…

Long time, no hear… Man.. Its time to do something.. ๐Ÿ™‚

  8. No one under the bed but us monsters. Now go back to sleep. ๐Ÿ™‚

Joking aside, life hasn’t gotten less busy since episode 48 came out. The good news is that it’s the good kind of busy.
